Odyssey of the Mind World Finals

June 4th, 2009 at 8:27 pm

Jennifer and I finished up this year’s OM season last weekend. As you may already know, our team again advanced to World Finals. This year it was at Iowa State University. Our team of 4th and 5th graders did an excellent job, bringing home the 2nd place trophy. They have grown so much as a team, and we are very proud of their enormous accomplishment.

Life

Of course we have both been busy. Did you expect anything different? Last weekend our OM team competed at their state competition. As you all know we take OM very seriously. They placed 1st and are now going to Iowa State to compete in late May. We are very excited about this, but of course it comes with more work. This past Saturday I completed another one of my masters classes…Yeah! Now I only have one more class and my field project to go. Lastly, now that spring is here one of my favorite releases of stress is here…outdoor yard work. I have been planting new grass in the back, and it finally is beginning to look nice. This has been a struggle since the pool construction. I also started building wooden walks around the backyard. These will make nice pathways when its all done.

We only have seven and a half weeks of school left, and then the big break comes. I have more building and yard plans for the summer. We also have a couple of trips planned. We’ll try to keep you posted. Bye for now.

Lately

Well, if anyone is still reading my blog, I thought I would give you an update on our life. We have been really busy lately. No, I mean really busy. The past month has been focused on Odyssey of the Mind. The team that Jennifer and I coach placed first last Saturday at their Regional Competition. So, now that means full steam ahead for State Finals in Newport News on April 18th. It will be a fun, but a lot of work. Luckily, the week leading up to the competition is Spring Break, so hopefully that will provide us with some rest. This weekend, I had to spend all night Friday and all day Saturday in class. However, I now only have one more weekend, and this class will be finished. Then, only one more class to go, and my master’s degree will be complete…Yippee!

Bye for now, and thanks for still reading…

Again this year, Jennifer and I spent the week between Christmas and New Years at The Edge Conferences with our good friends Craig and Brittany Tackett. We left on December 26th and returned on January 1st. The first conference was located in Ridgecrest, NC and the second conference was at Fort Caswell in NC. Enjoy the pics!
