Field Trip!

January 18th, 2006 at 6:17 pm

Today was a big day in the 3rd grade. We went on a field trip to Mill Mountain Theatre to see the world premiere of The North Star. It is an adaption of the book by Peter Reynolds of FableVision. As a book and a play, The North Star is an extremely powerful tool for both educators and anyone who is struggling with a decision to follow their dreams. For me the story rings true with my recent decision to change careers. I am stepping out into the unknown and following a different path. At times the path has been bumpy and hard to follow. However, no matter how dark it gets, I will continue to see my dream which continues to shine brighter than ever. Wish me luck and God bless!

Back-to-School

January 9th, 2006 at 3:43 pm

That’s right, it’s time to go back to school for the both of us. Jennifer started her last semester of nursing school today. As for me, I begin next Tuesday the 17th. However I am really going back to school. All the way back to the 3rd grade. That’s right! For the next 7-weeks I will be completing my practicum experience and credits at Crystal Spring Elementary School. After over a year of preparation through UVa, it is time for me to be thrown to the wolves. Just kidding! I am really excited about the whole process. I have been waiting on this for quite some time now. As for work I will be taking a temporary leave of absence until early March. After my practicum is complete, I will be able to apply for my state license. This will take some time, so my plan is to return to work in March with the hope of getting a teaching job next fall. Wish us both luck as we both near major changes in our careers.
